What Is Invisible Text?

Invisible text is ordinary Unicode text built from characters that appear empty, blank, or zero-width on screen. Unlike styled fonts from our Unicode Font Generator, invisible text does not change letter shapes — it uses special code points whose glyphs are absent or minimal. The string is real text you can copy, paste, and measure in code points and bytes.

How Invisible Text Works

Unicode defines thousands of characters beyond visible letters. Some are classified as format characters (zero-width), others as letters that happen to render blank (Hangul Filler), and others as punctuation spaces. When you copy invisible text, you copy the actual code points — not formatting markup. Our generator repeats your chosen character N times and shows you exactly what was created.

Invisible Text vs Blank Space vs Zero-Width Characters

TypeExampleBehavior
Blank-lookingU+3164 Hangul FillerOccupies a text position; often appears as empty cell
Zero-widthU+200B Zero Width SpaceNo horizontal width; may be stripped by apps
WhitespaceU+00A0 No-Break SpaceVisible space; not truly invisible
FormattingU+2063 Invisible SeparatorZero-width format char; often removed by sanitizers

How to Generate Invisible Text

  1. Choose a character type based on your platform and purpose.
  2. Select a quantity preset or enter a custom amount (1–1,000).
  3. Click Generate, then toggle Show invisible characters to verify.
  4. Copy Invisible Text and paste where your target app supports it.
  5. Use Paste & verify to inspect what your browser received.

Where Can Invisible Text Be Used?

  • Unicode and text-processing experiments
  • Layout and spacing tests in plain-text fields
  • Placeholder content where empty strings are rejected
  • Display name fields that accept Unicode (platform-dependent)
  • Bio line spacing with blank-looking characters (platform-dependent)

Do not use invisible text to impersonate others, bypass moderation, evade platform rules, or send deceptive messages.

Why Doesn't Invisible Text Work Everywhere?

Platforms apply their own input rules. Usernames often allow only ASCII. Chat apps may strip zero-width characters. Forms may trim whitespace. Unicode normalization can merge or remove certain code points. Font rendering varies — a blank-looking character may show a glyph on some devices. Always test on your target platform; this tool helps you inspect what you copied, not guarantee acceptance elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is invisible text?
Invisible text is plain Unicode text made from characters that render with little or no visible glyph — or that occupy a blank-looking cell. It is real text data, not an image or HTML trick. Common examples include Hangul Filler (U+3164) and Zero Width Space (U+200B), which behave very differently.
What is an invisible character?
An invisible character is a Unicode code point whose normal rendering is empty, blank-looking, or zero-width. There is no single "invisible character" — the term covers blank-looking letters, zero-width format characters, and certain whitespace types. This tool lets you pick the specific character you need.
How do I copy invisible text?
Choose a character type, set the quantity, click Generate, then Copy Invisible Text. Use the Show invisible characters toggle to verify dots or U+XXXX labels appear — the copied output always contains the real Unicode characters, not the visualization markers.
Is invisible text really empty?
No. Invisible text contains real Unicode code points. It may look empty on screen, but the string has measurable length in code points, UTF-16 units, and UTF-8 bytes. Use the Paste & verify panel to inspect exactly what was copied.
What Unicode character is used for invisible text?
There is no single standard. Hangul Filler (U+3164) is widely used for blank-looking text. Zero Width Space (U+200B) is common for zero-width separators. Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800) is often used for bio line spacing. Each has different behavior — pick based on your platform and purpose.
What is the difference between invisible text and zero-width text?
Zero-width characters (like U+200B) have no horizontal width — they are format characters. Blank-looking characters (like U+3164) occupy a text position and may render as an empty cell. Whitespace characters (like U+00A0) look like spaces. They are not interchangeable.
Why does invisible text sometimes disappear after pasting?
Many apps sanitize input by stripping zero-width and format characters, collapsing whitespace, or rejecting non-ASCII characters in usernames. Normalization (NFC/NFKC) can also remove or alter certain code points. Platform behavior varies — test on your target app.
Can I use invisible text in usernames?
Sometimes, on display name fields that accept Unicode — but many platforms restrict usernames to plain ASCII letters, numbers, and underscores. Even display names may filter invisible characters. Always test on the specific platform; do not assume universal support.
Does invisible text work on phones?
Copy and paste works on mobile browsers. Whether the destination app accepts the character depends on that app — not this generator. iOS and Android render invisible characters differently in some fonts.
Can invisible text be detected?
Yes. Invisible text is not encrypted or hidden from software — it is plain Unicode. Text analyzers, moderators, and platform filters can detect zero-width and blank characters. Some apps explicitly strip them.
Is this tool free?
Yes — 100% free, no account, no watermark. All generation and inspection runs locally in your browser. Your text is never uploaded to a server.
Does the tool store my text?
No. Generation and verification happen entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to or stored on a server.
